Design of a Bird Repellent Device for Transmission Towers Based on Frequency-variable Ultrasound

  • Aiming at the bird-related hazards along the "West-East Power Transmission" corridor in Xinjiang, this paper designs an intelligent bird repellent device based on frequency-variable ultrasonic technology. The system utilizes Doppler radar for accurate detection of bird activities, with an STM32 microcontroller serving as the core to build an intelligent decision-making system. It generates periodically varying ultrasonic signals to achieve eco-friendly repelling, while innovatively adopting a current transformer (CT) based power supply scheme to address the long-term energy supply challenges for remote transmission towers. This research provides a novel approach to overcoming the limitations of traditional bird repellent devices, such as habituation effects and poor environmental reliability, offering a new pathway for ensuring the safe operation of high-voltage transmission lines.
