Design and Implementation of Online Upgrade for Partial Discharge Monitoring Instrument in Switchgear

Abstract
The switchgear is widely used in the power system, and it mainly plays a role in breaking, controlling, and protecting in the power system. In long-term operation, due to strong electric fields, thermal effects, and chemical substances, the insulation performance will continuously deteriorate and decrease, resulting in overheating and partial discharge. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the partial discharge of the switchgear; At the same time, due to the large number of switchgear cabinets, when it is necessary to update and upgrade monitoring devices, conventional methods such as burner burning and serial port online programming (IAP) are disconnected from the system"s communication architecture, resulting in a cumbersome and inefficient upgrade process. This article proposes an online upgrade scheme for partial discharge monitoring devices in switchgear. By reusing the main communication channel and utilizing the original communication architecture of the system, the online upgrade can be completed, improving the maintainability and scalability of partial discharge monitoring. At the same time, the online upgrade method proposed in this article is not limited to the LORA based wireless upgrade in this article, but can also be extended and applied to communication methods such as RS485, CAN, serial port, Ethernet, etc. The communication architecture of the system is the communication architecture of online upgrade, which has good scalability and wide application scenarios.
