Localization Technology Research of Complete Switchgear for Pumped Storage Units

Aiming at the drawbacks that the complete sets of switchgear for pumped storage power stations in China have long relied on imports, and the partial performance of imported equipments cannot adapt to the operating conditions of domestic power stations, this paper takes the fully localized equipment independently developed by Xi’an Switchgear Electric Co., Ltd. as the research object, and systematically sorts out highlights including technical breakthroughs of localized switchgear, performance type test verification and engineering application effects. It summarizes the prominent advantages of localized equipment, including complete product categories, flexible and diversified layout configurations, long mechanical operation life and electrical endurance, reliable low-frequency breaking capacity, high insulation level, highly standardized interfaces, intelligent monitoring function and full-industry-chain localization. By analyzing the long-term engineering applications in Meizhou Pumped Storage Power Station, Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station and other projects, the comprehensive performance reliability of localized equipment is fully verified. This paper can provide practical engineering references for the large-scale application, on-site installation and full-life-cycle operation maintenance of domestic pumped storage equipment, and also offers valuable references for the innovative development of China’s pumped storage industry.
