Abstract
Aiming at the frequent heating defects of 35–220kV transmission line tension clamps in Weifang area, this paper adopts the statistical data of local line defects from 2020 to 2025. The statistics show that heating defects of tension clamps account for 19% of total line defects, among which 81.5% are caused by non-standard construction and installation processes. The operation characteristics of bolt-type, explosion-pressed and hydraulic tension clamps are compared. The inducements of heating faults are summarized from construction and environmental perspectives, and the performance of two defect elimination devices, namely Ampact clamps and preformed shunt strips, is compared horizontally. The measured data indicate that standardized crimping operation and thorough removal of wire oxide layers are the key to long-term defect treatment. The research conclusions can guide the type selection of tension clamps and on-site disposal of heating defects for transmission lines in similar regions, and provide practical operation references for grassroots operation and maintenance teams.
