Research and Application of Smart Transmitters in Nuclear Power Plants

  • As core equipment of the measurement system in nuclear power plants, generator power transmitters affect unit power output and reactor control. This paper conducts research based on the renovation project of smart transmitters. It first analyzes the typical design defects of conventional transmitters and illustrates the overall performance advantages of smart transmitters. In accordance with the actual operation requirements of transmitters in nuclear power plants, three major problems including unreliable power supply, false redundancy of potential transformers (PT) and lack of slow-blow fuse logic are eliminated via design optimization. Targeted solutions are proposed for the common and concealed PT slow-blow fuse fault, which effectively improves the operation safety of nuclear power plants. Finally, the research findings are summarized, and future research directions for smart transmitters in nuclear power plants are put forward from three aspects: transmitter modularization, construction of online monitoring platform and improvement of standard system.
