Application of DLMS and DL/T698.45 Protocol Integration in Smart Meters

  • This paper addresses a critical operational challenge in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) based on Wi-SUN communication technology: the failure of the mapping relationship between the logical device name and IP address in the concentrator caused by IPv6 address changes following the replacement of communication modules in smart meters. This paper proposes an automatic meter device registration and address synchronization management method. The core of this method is as follows: First, the meter actively monitors the network status changes of the Wi-SUN module and triggers a push mechanism upon detecting an online event. Second, a dedicated CONNECTIVITYdata frame containing the logical device name, IPv6 address, and MAC address is designed and proactively reported to the concentrator using the Push service of DLMS/COSEM. Finally, the concentrator side establishes a high-priority response acknowledgment mechanism and a collaborative management strategy using dual mapping tables (persistent storage and in-memory hash tables) to promptly update the address mapping relationship and initiate a closed-loop process for reporting new devices to the master station.
