Current Status and Treatment Methods of Blade Cavitation in Kaplan Turbines

  • The causes of cavitation in water turbines are quite complex, as there is uneven pressure distribution within the turbine runner. When the water flows into the high-pressure zone, due to the increase in pressure, bubbles condense and form hydraulic shock cavitation, which can reduce the efficiency of equipment use and even cause equipment damage. This article introduces the causes of surface cavitation damage on solid components, elaborates on the principle and current situation of blade cavitation, discusses the selection of blade cavitation technology, and proposes a solution for blade cavitation treatment.
