Development of a Combined Multi-Purpose Insulation Temporary Crossarm

When the 10 kV linear pole crossarms and insulators are aged or damaged, they need to be replaced in live operation. The insulated temporary crossarm plays a role in supporting the wire in this operation. Because the traditional integrated insulated temporary cross arm is heavy, difficult to install, and can not work in the double circuit overhead line at the same time, it leads to long live operation time, high labor intensity, and high safety risk. In this paper, a new type of temporary insulated cross arm for 10 kV live operation is developed. Through the comparative analysis of operation steps, time and operation risk, the results show that using this tool can optimize the live work steps, shorten the working time, significantly reduce the labor intensity of operators, and improve the work efficiency and safety.
