Analysis and Control of Ground Settlement Induced by Large-Diameter Pipe Jacking in Power Engineering in Soft Soil Areas

  • Pipe jacking construction inevitably causes surrounding soil loosening and subsidence, leading to stress redistribution and ground deformation. When large-diameter pipe jacking is employed in soft soil areas, the ground deformation becomes particularly significant. As the deformation propagates to the surface, ground settlement occurs, which may further result in deformation, cracking, or even failure of surface and underground structures. This study focuses on the cable tunnel project for the relocation of the 110 kV Mubin Line (Poles 1#~9#) in Binjiang, Heyuan. By comparing the calculated settlement values from empirical formulas with the monitored settlement data during construction, the predicted settlement values under soft soil conditions are revised. Additionally, several ground settlement control measures are proposed, providing a reference for the design and construction of similar pipe jacking projects in analogous geological conditions.
