Optimisation and Modification Analysis of Double-Control Shunt Separator

  • In order to improve the quality of pulverized coal exported from the medium-speed mill and to enhance the ability to regulate the pulverized coal output, a power generation company transformed a separator in one of its furnaces into a double-control shunt separator. Experimental research was carried out to compare the operating characteristics of the whole mill before and after the transformation. The characteristics of the mill at different outputs were studied, and the factors affecting the maximum output were analyzed. The different baffle adjustment characteristics were then studied, and the optimal operating conditions of the whole mill were obtained after the modification. The test results show that the structure of the double-control shunt separator can effectively regulate the fineness of exported pulverized coal. The radial blade has a greater influence on the fineness of pulverized coal. The double-control shunt separator not only reduces the fineness of exported pulverized coal, as measured by R-90 and R-200, but also maintains the homogeneity index of the pulverized coal at more than 1.3. This modification improves the quality of exported pulverized coal and increases the flexible operation capability and economic operation efficiency of the plant.
