Abstract:
Soft open point (SOP), enabling flexible power exchange and voltage optimization in distribution networks via active power flow control and fast fault isolation. However, as large amounts of distributed energy resources (DERs) connect using grid-following converters, traditional SOPs struggle to solve key problems like frequency/voltage instability and low inertia. Therefore, we propose a grid-forming SOP control strategy combining PV-storage units. Using multi-port cooperation for grid-forming and active power support, it shifts from "passive dispatch following" to "active adjustment", acting as a vital flexible hub for modern power systems.
