Abstract:
In medium-voltage distribution networks, ring main units (RMUs) serve as the primary equipment. The load switches within these RMUs have traditionally used SF
6 as the primary arc-extinguishing medium. However, under the requirements of the 'Dual Carbon' Strategy, SF
6 which has potent greenhouse effect should be substituted gradually. This paper introduces three types of fluoride-based environmentally friendly gases, discusses their feasibility for application in load switches of medium-voltage ring main units, and reviews the research progress in two aspects: arc-extinguishing performance and equipment maintenance. This provides a theoretical basis for the application of new environmentally friendly gases in ring main units.
