Abstract:
Lightning disaster is a major safety hazard threatening collector lines. It is of great significance to develop new lightning protection equipment and simulation modeling evaluation to improve the lightning withstand level of collector lines. Based on the parameters of 35 kV collector line in Shanxi wind farm and the characteristics of local lightning activity, the simulation model of 35 kV collector line was established in ATP-EMTP software, and the lightning withstand level before and after installing lightning arrester was simulated and calculated, and the influence of grounding resistance on lightning withstand level was considered. The results show that the lightning withstand level can be effectively improved by 26.9% and 29.8% when lightning strikes the top of the tower and the cross arm after installing the arrester. When the ground resistance is changed from 5 Ω to 30 Ω, the lightning withstand level of the top and cross arm of the lightning strike tower decreases by 59.2% and 57.4% respectively.
